Creating engaging content in regard to Climate Change

During the Communications and Visibility training that RCCDN staff participated in, the participants were equipped with how to give quality over quantity in creating engaging content and using real photos and graphics.

As organized by Rwanda Civil Society Platforms, in the three days of training, it was shared that in creating engaging content can be done by reviews, hosting contests and giveaways, posting at the right time, using hashtags, sharing other people’s content, working on personal branding etc. The participants learnt that there is a need to maintain their organizations’ social media presence through impact storytelling and as such, Climate Change and Environment protection-related details can be shared.

Participants who attended the training

Effective communication and visibility have created an impact on our relations with organizations and their public. The part of creativity in this means – Being able to solve problems, communicate ideas, add new perspectives and tell stories. The message carried is essential; hence thinking outside the box and standing out from the crowd, keeping it original but also keeping the audience captivated. It was made known that in Public Relations, creativity must be applied in all aspects and that it is in each sector and it just needs to be awakened.

Creativity needs more courage, perceptive and can be inspired or suppressed and is childlike. PR being a type of race either against competition or working towards new goals, RACE (Research Action Communication Evaluation) was considered a creative process to produce things that are new and original. Into creativity techniques that are improvisation, brainstorming, intuitive thinking, false faces and the five W’s (Who? What? When? Where? Why?).

Practice being the best teacher, is what was advised to do to conclude the training later the participants were certified considering the pre-assessment and the post-assessment that was done at the beginning and the end of the training. It was a good and added knowledge experience that will be used in the forward work to be effective and more productive.
