About RCCDN
RCCDNetwork RWANDA
RCCDN is a national member-driven civil society network on climate change and other development challenges. It is a network comprising 66 member organizations working throughout the Rwandan territory. The objectives of RCCDN were designed to ensure effective networking and communication among members in the country to collectively identify their priority needs and be empowered to take a stand positioning for sustainable development amidst climate change challenges.

RCCDN long term objective is to strengthen the resilience of local communities to natural disasters such as floods, landslide, and severe soil erosion. Support the most vulnerable in communities, create employment for the youth and build their capacity to restore the ecosystem and protect biodiversity, their land, forests, and water bodies for sustainable development.
Enhancing Civil Society Organizations’ role in National Determined Contributions (NDCs) implementation in Rwanda by engaging policy makers to adopt policies that reduce climate change effects.

Strategic Focus Areas
RCCDN focuses on five key areas that align with both national priorities and global climate frameworks such as the Paris Agreement, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Rwanda Green Growth and Climate Resilience Strategy (GGCRS). These are:

Mission
Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (RCCDN) is dedicated to driving sustainable solutions to climate change and environmental degradation in Rwanda. Our mission is to empower communities, promote climate adaptation and mitigation, and restore ecosystems through collaborative efforts, capacity building, advocacy and policy engagement, research, and on-the-ground actions. We are committed to building a resilient Rwanda where sustainable development meets climate change and environmental stewardship.
Objectives
- Build capacity of communities, network members and other stakeholders, necessary to adapt and mitigate the impacts of climate change in Rwanda.
- Lobby government and policy makers for climate-compliant development initiatives, inact and implement laws and policies that recognize climate change as a key driver to sustainable development.
- Engage cooperating partners, local and international stakeholders to take into account local climate concerns in the international instruments and development aid architecture.
- Establish accurate documentation and research on climate change response measures in Rwanda.
- Engage Rwandan negotiators to promote a just and equitable development outcome in the UNFCCC negotiations
- Participate in local, national, regional and international climate change discourse
