During the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice (NSSCJ) organised by Pan- African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) and within the two weeks of the training sessions, the participants got a chance to visit Gatundu South.
Be reminded that Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (RCCDN) staffs were among the revealers of the NSSCJ and while there they learnt that after the Pink Tide ebbed following Hugo Chavez’s death in 2013, the fall of the Brazillian Workers Party in 2016 & Raffael Correa’s 2017 and the later follow on the US Empire under stress – but rightwing ascendance as presented by Patrick.
It was demonstrated that Rwanda is among the top countries that launched Electric Cars in Partnership with Volkswagen. Later in regards to nature-based solutions, the participants paid a visit to Gatundu South to engage in the cause.
The Climate Barrister, Lucky Abeng the UN Agenda 2030 advocate, Climate Justice Activist, CommonWealth Youth Climate Change Network CYCN, Entrepreneur and Youth leader delivered the youth demand at the African Union ahead of COP27 as a suggestion to make it an African COP.
Bertha Argueta, the Senior Advisor-Climate Finance at German Watch helps in looking at Climate Finance international mechanisms, transparency and accountability in the field as well as major demands by Africa and the Global South including climate debt.
In regards to Climate Change, there are some Vulnerable Groups and unless the challenges get addressed in ensuring Climate Justice, the cases will grow bigger.
There are some Green jobs and enterprises, women’s economic empowerment, Climate Justice and Energy Transition which are the concerns towards Women and Climate Change. Though men are also victims, women are more vulnerable in regard to this as OGW UNESCO Chair, Dr Dorcas Beryl Otieno shared.
