Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (RCCDN) with Musanze District organized an Environment Protection and Climate Change Response around Virunga National Park Brainstorming Meeting on July 28, 2022.
Andrew Rucyahana Mpuhwe, the Vice Mayor in charge of Economy and Development delivered opening remarks and was joined by Faustin Vuningoma, the RCCDN Coordinator who said, “We need to enhance the environment and climate protection and conserve biodiversity, by all means, to better go way forward and sustain the Rwandan Tourism industry.”
In his presentation, Musanze District Vice Mayor showcased some outcomes and cases on the Agroforest and social-economic transformation to ensure the National Park landscape masterplan, the creation of Green Smart Village and livelihood improvement.
Later, Eugene Rwibasira, the RCCD Chairperson and Rwanda Development Organization (RDO) Executive Secretary explained the role of Civil Societies in Park Expansion as he shared some possible projects that should be introduced on the concern.

If hands can be joined, the betterment of Climate Change and Environment conservation will be promised and the tourism industry in Musanze District, most especially the Volcanoes Park will be a well-sustained field.
In a panel discussion, the RCCDN Coordinator urged the youth to be involved in all processes of environment and climate change protection, “We look forward to seeing the young generation in this field for they are the future of tomorrow,” said Vuningoma. As per the closing remarks, Andrew Rucyahana Mpuhwe, the Musanze District Vice Mayor in charge of Economy and Development extended his gratitude to RCCDN for the partnership and way forward on the Park Expansion procedure in line with Climate Change Protection.
