Training on Communications, Visibility and Impact Creation

RCCDN participated in three days of training conducted by Rwanda Civil Society Platform (RCSP) that aims at gaining more knowledge on how to communicate and build/grow visibility and impact creation in line with the CSOs’ respective duties. The training took place from October 25 to 27, 2022 at Grand Legacy Hotel in Kigali.

RCCDN staff, Leaders, Communications and Digital Officers from different CSOs converged in the workshop to build more capacity on the above core points that have to be dealt with while working. Different professionals in the related fields guided and unfolded more on each topic: From looking into communications in terms of expression and sharing by giving and receiving information through talking, writing and listening as well as reading.

Building and maintaining relationships at the workplace so we can get our work done hence its significance is what we call ‘Communications’. Written pieces, presentations, verbal and non-verbal communication are forms of communication while feedback, respect, confidence, clarity, honesty, and friendliness are vital communication skills that people ought to have. The sender and the receiver have to be satisfied and also understand the emotions and intentions behind the information/message being shared to communicate effectively.

Visibility and communication came hand in hand and as far as visibility is concerned; the work has to be clear considering how the audience will perceive it, also being a tool which was built to influence and impact the created and sold content. For instance; articles, case studies, captions, blog posts, videos like tutorials, live streams, Q & As. as well as images, memes, quotes and many others.

Contents that sell on social media are: Inspirational, educational, interactive, connecting, promotional, newsworthy, and entertaining. Some Social Media do’s and don’ts like grammar and spelling mistakes, not engaging the followers and not using SM marketing strategies serve less to the institution’s growth.

This particular topic concluded by looking at how to stay visible on social media platforms in different steps by understanding the target audience, finding our voices and style, being social and showing up, learning from professionals and practising every day to maximise visibility on social media.
