DAY 1: NPA organized PPIMA Partners advocacy forum retreat

Starting from August 22, 2022, there has been a three-day forum retreat organized by the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) for all PPIMA Partners in Kayonza District.

Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (RCCDN) attended the advocacy forum retreat and it was all about validation of organization advocacy strategies. Both Aimable Tuyishime, the NPA Project Officer and Faustin Vuningoma, the RCCDN Coordinator, and the advocacy forum Chairperson delivered the opening remarks.

“Speaking on the previous outstanding work done and the aim to reduce reliance on hunches, guesses, and intuition about the advocacy work, there is more need of partnering with different stakeholders to strengthen this initiative,” as per said in the opening remarks.

At the opening, RCCDN did the presentation and so they represented more on the previous policies. It was showcased that there is a gap and constraints on lack of harmonised regulatory framework for effective implementation of NDCs as far as Climate Change is concerned and it is affecting the whole globe. Serious mitigation and adaptation measures are so needed.

Therefore, We Do Green as a kind of startup and young professionals in the era of Youth Engagement in Climate Change and Justice, presented some issues that were brainstormed during the advocacy strategy and Youth Engagement.

In promoting gender equality, positive masculinity, redistributing, reducing and recognizing unpaid care work (UCW) as well as reduction of unpaid domestic work Rwanda Men’s Resource Centre (RWAMREC) tackled some issues in the era that hinder women’s development, thus need some advocacy.

That is how the first day of the retreat went and all the participants were engaged in discussions and shared ideas on how to do better on the way forwards.
